Muscular strength and power are critical for athletic performance, and most, if not all, coaches recognize the importance of resistance training in the overall program. However, this also leaves the question – what is the best way to train my athletes?
Recent research indicates that variable resistance appears to offer some advantages in producing the greatest comprehensive strength adaptations. Variable resistance training involves using bands or cords to stimulate muscle activity throughout the entire lift.
Beside the research evidence, several colleges and NFL teams are using the Perform-X Strength Systems which consists of a unique version of variable resistance cords for loading the major strength training exercises – the bench press, squat, deadlift and Olympic lifting movements.
The Strength Cord Systems can be used with the Trak-X System (Dead-X and Power-X), as well as with a traditional lifting rack using the built-in peg system (Bench-X and Squat-X).
